The Royal Danish Theatre (often called RDT) is a very important place for performing arts in Denmark. Its Danish name is Det Kongelige Teater. It is both a national institution and the name of its main building. This building opened in 1874. You can find it on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen.
The theatre started in 1748. At first, it was a theatre just for the king. Later, it became a theatre for the whole country. Today, the Royal Danish Theatre puts on many different shows.
