The airport is almost at sea level. However, land to the south rises quite a bit. This means planes cannot circle around from that direction when landing. Sometimes, seagulls can be a frequent concern for pilots landing here.
This airport is known as an "airport of entry." This means that people arriving from other countries can go through customs here. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has officers at the airport. They can check small private planes, but only if they have 15 passengers or fewer.
